Transmyocardial laser revascularization in treatment chronic coronary artery disease
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Transmyocardial laser revascularization is an indirect method of treatment CAD. Many authors underline benefits from TMLR as an additional procedure for patients in whom complete revascularization is not reachable. Channels created by the laser stimulate inflammation, which results in TMLR-related neoangiogenesis. The aim of the study was to establish the long-term follow-up after TMLR.

INTRODUCTION Dramatic advances in coronary revascularization techniques have been developed in recent years. Improved technologies and techniques for coronary artery surgery and percutaneous coronary intervention have allowed for treatment of coronary vessels that were previously considered inaccessible or not amenable to conventional treatment.1 In addition, pharmacologic management of chronic...
متن کاملImproved myocardial perfusion after transmyocardial laser revascularization in a patient with microvascular coronary artery disease
We report the case of a 59-year-old woman who presented with symptoms of angina that was refractory to medical management. Although her cardiac catheterization revealed microvascular coronary artery disease, her symptoms were refractory to optimal medical management that included ranolazine. After undergoing transmyocardial revascularization, her myocardial ischemia completely resolved and her ...
متن کاملMyocardial laser revascularization.
Some patients with severe angina have coronary artery disease which is unsuitable for conventional forms of revascularization — coronary angioplasty/ stenting or coronary artery bypass surgery. These patients have usually undergone previous revascularization procedures and have disease which is diffuse and affects the distal part of the coronary circulation. Transmyocardial laser revascularizat...
متن کاملAlternatives to traditional coronary bypass surgery.
Over 1 million percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and a half million surgical coronary artery bypass grafting procedures (CABG) are performed in the United States annually for treatment of coronary artery disease. With recent advances in anti-restenosis strategies, the number of PCIs is expected to increase dramatically. Still, these therapies treat relatively discrete coronary lesions. ...
متن کاملPerioperative use of the oesophageal Doppler probe (ODM II) on a patient scheduled for transmyocardial revascularization.
We describe the use of the continuous wave oesophageal Doppler monitor (ODM II) in the perioperative management of a patient with chronic obstructive coronary artery disease undergoing transmyocardial revascularization (TMR). The use of ODM II allowed both quantitative and qualitative assessment of cardiac function relatively noninvasively. It detected the successful transmyocardial penetration...
